red iron press
red iron is an experiment.
DeVar & Marco Fraticelli submitted in time for me to get
out their sheets for the Toronto Small
Press Book Fair.(held Nov 9, 2002) I also printed the renku that Marshall & I wrote a few years ago.
The sheets printed thus far have been on 8 1/2 X 11 paper, folded in half lengthwise, then into thirds.
I cut the top of the fold on the 1st & 3rd panel which( trust me on this), gives 10 panels (2 internal
panels are blank)
red iron is accepting submissions of poetry (haiku and other poetry), prose
and graphics for future
issues. Contributors recieve 20 copies, a 'master' to reprint as many as they choose (whenever they
choose) and a red iron stamp to adorn future reprints.
If I like it, I'll print it.
that said; I'm also a procrastinator, a terrible correspondent, and highly opinionated
previously published is OK, but I'd rather put together a sheet of newer stuff,
distribute copies for free ( ie at the Small Press fair, haiku events)Acknowlegements
would have to go in your poets statement, or on one of the internal pages
I have sent review copies of the first red iron publications to New Hope International
(check out their web site , htpp://www.nhi.clara.net/index.htm)
I much prefer email submissions, I'm much less likely to misplace an email. Send (only your best stuff)
If you're sending haiku, I'd like to see about 20 as a start, to see if I find
enough of what
I want to make a sheet. I'll probably ask for another 10 to complete the sheet.
If you are sending other poetry, perhaps 10 poems to start
For those who want to take a chance (or haven't email access) , mail to :
Karen Sohne, red iron press, 39 Penhurst Ave, Toronto Canada, M8Y 3A9.
Copies of the last 4 sheets can be had for$1 (Canadian or US$) with a self
addressed envelope to
the above address. Authors thus far,Marco Fraticelli, L.DeVar Dahl, Karen Sohne, LeRoy Gorman,
Nancy Prasad and a renku by Karen Sohne & Marshall Hryciuk
Imago does have a dandy web site, www.interlog.com/~imago
, displaying both current and
collectors'editions for sale, as well as haiku for viewing.
